Your 20s and 30s: The Foundation of a Healthy Life
There is something many of us believe when we are young: that our bodies will always forgive us. We can eat whatever we…

The average Nigerian is tired of the continuous spike in life resources and basic needs, and no matter how hard we are trying to fight against bad government, we have to survive right?
Yes. We have to. No matter how little or big you earn, you have to cultivate healthy spending habits to be able to survive each day that comes in this Nigeria.
There are people that don’t constantly worry about their bills or the continuous spike of things everyday, these are people who have carefully cultivated healthy habits towards their money and how they spend it, in order to avoid bill pressure.
These are few habits I’ve observed from these people:
1: They don’t spend to impress anyone
One of the biggest differences is that they’ve stopped trying to “look okay” for people who aren’t paying their bills.
They buy what they need, not what earns approval. There’s no pressure to match anyone’s lifestyle online or offline. And over time, that removes a lot of unnecessary financial stress.
2. They know where their money is going
It’s not about strict budgeting apps or complicated worksheets. It’s not about being so strict with your funds.
It’s more about awareness; and being able to track your money and know exactly where and what it goes into.
They roughly know:
What comes in
What must go out
What it’s used for and how necessary it is
What is left
That simple clarity alone removes a lot of anxiety and helps better spending.
3: They treat savings like a responsibility, not a leftover
Instead of saving “if anything remains,” they save first, even if it’s small. This means that they put this money aside no matter how, no matter how small, this could serve as support for emergencies in the future, and help you to invest too in the future.
Because they understand something important: peace of mind doesn’t come from how much you earn, but from how prepared you are for any billing.
Even a small, consistent savings habit builds emotional safety over time, and not just that; it is one of the small things that build silent wealth over time too.
4: They avoid lifestyle pressure traps
As income increases, many people quietly increase their expenses to match it. New clothes, new hangouts, new habits. These are most times, very unnecessary.
People who don’t constantly worry about bills are usually careful not to upgrade their lifestyle every time life gives them a little more money.
They pause and ask: Do I actually need this, or am I just adjusting to pressure?
5: They plan for “normal emergencies”
This does mean that they’re planning for disasters but preparing for whatever life throws at them.
Things like:
Unexpected transport costs
Medical bills
Family requests
Small urgent repairs
Unexpected billings
They don’t wait for everything to fall apart before thinking about it. That small level of preparation reduces a lot of panic later.
6:They don’t ignore small expenses
It’s not always the big rent or big bills that hurt people. It’s the “small small” spending that quietly drains money.
If you can buy things in bulk? Then do it. This helps to save a lot of money but people don’t realize it, buying things little by little can be beer draining because you’ll find out that you’re always spending every other day.
People with financial calm do this a lot to reduce financial pressure. Stocking up groceries in bulk, food in bulk, small bulks; it must not necessarily be in big bulks.
7: They build a calm relationship with money
This might be the most important one.
Money stops feeling like an enemy or something to fear. It becomes something they manage, not something that manages them.
So even when money is tight, it doesn’t automatically turn into panic.
In conclusion:
Financial peace isn’t about being rich.
It’s about reducing the number of moments where life catches you off guard.
And the truth is, most of that peace doesn’t come from one big decision;it comes from small, boring, everyday habits repeated over time.
The kind of habits nobody really notices… until they realize they’re no longer worried about bills anymore.
